In order to make the stay of WEC Executive Assembly participants and their accompanying persons, as pleasant as possible, the WEC National Committee is organising some social and technical visits during and after the Executive Assembly.
These visits will concern the city of Oran itself as well as other towns as attractive and welcoming as the latter. The First town to be visited is Tlemcen which is about 160 km far from Oran. The second one Ghardaia, the pearl of the oasis, will lead participants to the South of Algeria.

Tour 1: « SANTA CRUZ»
The itinerary of this tour starts downtown; goes through the old Oran and finishes on the mountain overlooking the city. This itinerary will allow the visitors to discover various monuments and historic sites redrawing the main parts of Oran history (Islamic, Spanish, Ottoman, French, Andalusian and Arab periods).
Among these monuments and sites we shall quote:
- The port of Oran with in its left the Bastos house,
- The walk of Létang .
- Place de la République.
- Place Kléber.
- The heights of the old Oran with its Turkish baths, the mosque of the pearl and the church St Louis,
- Te Spanish district of Sclera,
- The castle “Santa Cruz” which dominates the city and the port of Oran.
- The wall of Rosalcazar, the biggest Spanish fortification of Oran,
- The European town center.
Tour 2: “Architectural Reading of Oran”
This tour goes through the most important arteries of the European city, whose construction was undertaken in the second half of the 19th century by the French, on the set of Karguentah. We can admire the urbanization in Haussmann architectural style and various others, such as: eclecticism, new arts, arts deco, functionalism and the neo-Moresque .

This tour will concern the following streets and places:
- La Place d’armes, The opera,The Obelisk of Sidi Brahim battle, Le Palais du Bey (The palace of the Bey), The Pasha Mosque, The Emir Abdelkader Boulevard, l’hôtel Royal (The Royal Hotel), The boulevard of Soummam,
- The place Franz Fanon ex—Villebois Mareuil,
- The street Mohamed Khémisti, the open-air museum of New arts and Art deco architectures,
- The place of the Maghreb,
- The Avenue Larbi Tebessi (ex—Loubet). This avenue allows to see real architectural jewels,
- Square Bamako, where is the monument of the First World War unknown soldiers,
- The Boulevard of the ALN ( ex-sea front): balcony of the city which was at the origin of a rectification of Camus’ famous expression on Oran which says “Oran turns its back to the sea”.
- Place of arms: place fitted out by French in the 19eme century.
- The Boulevard Emir Abdelkader (ex Seguin) as well as the boulevard Soummam.
- The street Larbi Ben M’hidi a magnificent museum of 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century architectural style,
- The Avenue Larbi Tbessi which ends at the place of Bamako,
- The tour ends by the boulevard of the ALN (ex- font de mer).
Tour 3: «Oran Museum»
Inaugurated on November 11th, 1935, the museum regroups today, some sections sometimes containing rare parts which illustrate the richness of the various parts of the Algeria’s history.

- The prehistory section which includes three periods of the Palaeolithic,
- The archaeology section,
- The old Oran section with its three big periods, Spanish, Ottoman and French,
- The ethnography section mainly Maghreban, African and afro-Asiatic and oceanic,
- The «Struggle for Liberalisation» section which concerns principally historical testimonies of the fight of the Oran inhabitants against colonial regime. (Reports of courts, press cutting, and list of persons condemned to death, arms and ammunition …),
- The Plastic arts gallery: where important collections of French and Algerian painting are kept,
- The natural history section, which offers a wide variety of kind and species which disappeared or in process of disappearing,
- The compared anatomy gallery, which includes among others, a complete skeleton of the Homo sapien.
City of Tlemcen: (Duration: 1 day)
City of art and history, the various Arab and Berber dynasties which made of this city their capital, distinguished themselves by their tolerance and their open-mindedness in particular the founder of the dynasty Zianide king Yaghmorassen who assured a special treatment towards the Jewish community.

Visit of Ghardaia: (Duration: 2days/1night)
Ghardaïa and M’ Zab are classified by UNESCO as universal heritage. This region seduced several artists and architects, as Le Corbusier. Ghardaïa is also a lifestyle, and a specific society which has its social orders and its rules, based on a robust tradition while being opened on the modern world.
